5 of the Best… Bridesmaids Dresses

After the giggle we had with the worst bridesmaids’ dresses yesterday we’ve decided to show you our favourite bridesmaids’ dresses and where you can find them.

Topperland thinks that it’s important that you get bridesmaid dresses that you know your favourite girls will like wearing and may even wear again.

Coast has its own bridesmaid boutique which has all sorts of bridesmaids dresses in different styles grouped together by colour because we all know that just because one style may suit one of your ladies it might not suit another!

The Lela Rose collection at Dessy offers some amazingly sophisticated dresses fit for a princess, give your ladies a real treat by getting them one of these.

These twist wrap dresses once again from Dessy are absolute genius! They can be worn in 6 different ways all by tying them differently which means that your maids can have a look that suits them!

For pure value for money you can’t beat The Bridalwear Company, with hundreds of styles you’ll be certain to find something for everyone!

A trend that has been sweeping the wedding world is asking your maids to pick a dress in a certain colour that they will wear again. Topperland loves this idea! You end up with an interesting and quirky look because no-one wants to be matchy matchy on their day!

Let us know what your opinion is on bridesmaid dresses, would you like everyone to look the same or do you like the idea of mixing it up?

Why not get in touch and let us know?

@Topperland

As always we can’t wait to hear from you!

Best and Worst of the Week

Good morning all and HAPPY FRIDAY! To congratulate you on getting through the week here’s our weekly round-up of the best and the worst this week has had to offer us!

As always we’ll start with the best

We love this adorable homage to Peter Pan because it’s just so cute! Check out more of Mike Boike’s photography Here.

Two Whole Cakes is a fabulous blog from the equally fabulous Lesley Kinzel who’s mission it is to promote a good body image no matter what your size.

Autumn is such a beautiful time of year and we’ve put together the best looks for an autumn wedding on our lovely blog here.

Our cake of the week this week is…

This fabulous Banana split cake! You could almost believe it was a real sundae!

Now for the worst of the week (cue dramatic music)

Pinstrosity’s… I have just come across a wonderful newish blog called Pinstrosity which is all about the Pinterest tutorials you try at home that go horribly wrong!

The reaction to January Jones’ character on Mad Men gaining weight absolutely floored us here at the Topperland office! We were horrified at one comment that “now that she is fat, she serves no purpose”.  Considering that poor January Jones is pregnant at the moment we’re horrified that these people could be so rude!

Unexpected bills are one thing but poor Solenne San Jose was asked to pay 12 quadrillion dollars to her phone company! Just to give you a visual this is what that looks like numerically 11,721,000,000,000,000… She says she nearly had a heart attack when she opened her bill and we don’t blame her!

Our bad cake of the week is….

This is our fabulous weekly round up of the best and worst of the week and we want to hear from you!

Autumn Wedding Inspiration

Topperland loves autumn and all of the colours it brings. We’ve put together a fab inspiration board for your autumn wedding!

Remember if you’re using autumn as your theme you don’t want to go too over the top!

Pick a beautiful backdrop for your wedding photos

Seasonal flowers in jars make fabulous centrepieces

Add a hint of autumn to your formalwear

Dark purples make gorgeous wedding colours!

We love these orange shoes with the white of the dress!

Hopefully this has given you a few ideas on how to incorporate an autumn theme in your wedding without making it brash.

Remember lots of soft candlelight, soft autumnal colours and plenty of seasonal flowers and you’ll be fine.

So what do you think about having an autumn wedding? Is it for you or would you rather stick to spring/summer?

Let us know

@Topperland

As always we look forward to hearing from you soon!

Love,

Topperland

5 of the Worst…. Bridesmaids Dresses

We’ve all been there as a bridesmaid, wearing a dress that you don’t particularly like and having to party in it. Normally it’s not too bad but if your bride has bad taste sometimes you can end up with a real horror of a dress.

This is the blog post that shows you the ugly side of being a bridesmaid (apart from having to put up with Bridezilla of course).

5. Powder blue horrors

These dresses aren't actually too bad considering what’s to come but the shape is completely unflattering… The expressions say exactly how comfortable these girls are in these dresses!

4. Truly Awful

I’m not entirely sure how to describe these dresses to you… Horrific just doesn’t seem a strong enough word

3. EVERYTHING MUST MATCH

I love the expressions on the bridesmaid’s faces! The cut of these dresses isn’t too bad luckily!

2. The “Bad Halloween Costume”

Just add bunny ears and it becomes multi-purpose!

1.       The dress that defies description

The bride must have picked her bridesmaids based on those she hated the most.

So here are our top 5 worst Bridesmaids dresses but we want to know if you can do better so why not leave us a comment or get in touch?

@Topperland

As always we look forward to hearing from you soon!

5 of the Worst… Wedding Cakes

Topperland knows that little secret we all have, most of the time things don’t come out right the very first time and we all know that we have to practice to get better at it. This is true of Bakers as well so try not to snigger too much when we show you 5 of the worst wedding cakes we’ve come across!

(Ok you can laugh a little bit – we laughed a lot)

5. The sand castle wedding cake.

We've seen these before and if done correctly they can be stunning! This one unfortunately wasn't.

4. The Migraine Maker

Don’t look at this one for too long… It hurts

3. The “Cat got sick and we’re trying to cover it up” Cake

Oh dear

2. The “A Fish Out Of Water”

So called because the poor dolphins look beached (on something unspeakable)

1.       The worst ever cake copy ever

The cake on the right was what they wanted… The left is what they got.

Have you ever had a cake disaster? Why not let us know!

As always we look forward to hearing from you soon!
