Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Topperland

Hello gorgeous people and Merry Christmas in advance, we’re going to be off from today until 2nd January (where we’ll be bringing you loads more Topperland fun as long as the world doesn’t end). Anyway this post is all about us sharing our favourite moments of 2012.

However first we want to say a sincere thank you for all of the support and love you’ve given us in 2012 and we can’t wait to hear from you in 2013.

Anyway enough of the mushy stuff here’s Topperland’s favourite moments of 2012 J

Kate Middleton

2012 has been the year of K Middy and we at Topperland have absolutely fallen in love with her! Not just how sweet and funny she is but also all of her amazing dresses and now she’s having a royal baby?! We’re in overload of happiness!

The Olympics and Paralympics

The Olympics and Paralympics completely took over the country for the best part of the year with us all getting prepared for the games and it was AMAZING!

The Queen’s Jubilee

Topperland knows that not everyone is thrilled about the monarchy but we do love the Queen! She’s adorable and amazing and she gave us all an extra day off of work!

Obama Vs Romney

It was the biggest election and one of the closest the world has ever seen but ultimately Barack Obama was re-elected as president of the United States.

Boris Johnson is Re-Elected as Mayor of London

Finally our Boris is a national treasure and we all adore him because frankly he’s a rather intelligent man who has an unfortunate brain to mouth malfunction every now and again! Also he told Ken Livingstone exactly what he thought of him which was a very brave move.

These are Topperland’s favourite moments of the year but we want to hear from you on what yours were so why not get in touch and let us know?

@Topperland

As always we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Once again Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Love,

Topperland

Back to Black

Topperland has been seeing all sorts of trends through the course of the year and nothing has been more prevalent than subverting the traditional white dress and ivory decorations by using bold colours and big statements such as the black dress.
As such we’ve come up with our very favourite wedding dresses in the dark and mysterious colour.

Keep it short and sweet in this sweetheart necked tea length dress

*sigh* Vera Wang is just a dream…

The dress doesn’t have to be entirely black for it to be bang on trend – why not try black lace over a nude dress?

The dip hemmed dress has been fashionable for all of 2012 and we’re expecting it to creep back in to 2013 so why not show off your fab pins in this?

The dress doesn’t have to be fully black – why not try a white with black accents dress?

 Would you consider wearing a black dress on your special day? Why not get in touch and let us know?

@Topperland

As always we look forward to hearing from you!

Love,

Topperland

Genius Gingerbread

Gingerbread Houses can be simple or complex but every single one is different. However Topperland has seen some absolutely gorgeous Gingerbread houses that we just thought we’d have to share with you.

This stunningly decorated gingerbread house must have taken hours! It’s almost too pretty to eat.

One of Topperland’s favourite films is The Polar Express so we totally fell in love with this adorable Christmas train!

Here’s one for the boys… Are you a fan of Skyrim? Get your revenge on the dragons!

We love the texture on this Gingerb

And finally for the pure talent! How amazing is this gingerbread house (and how long must it have taken?)

Have you made a gingerbread house this year? Why not get in touch and let us know!

@Topperland

We can’t wait to hear from you.

Love,

Topperland

New Years Resolutions and How to Keep Them.

With Christmas coming up fast Topperland is turning her thoughts to what her new years resolution will be for 2013 and how long it will last (October was a record).

With that in mind Topperland has been compiling our best advice for achieving those resolutions whether it be budging some excess weight or stepping up the career ladder.

1.       Be Realistic

The most important thing to do is to set yourself realistic goals such as “I’m going to cut back on cigarettes in an effort to quit smoking” is a more realistic goal than “I’m quitting smoking”.
2.       Be Honest

It’s very easy to fool yourself into thinking it’s not as bad as it is, make an accurate gauge of where you are at the start and set an achievable goal so as not to get disheartened.

3.       Don’t do it alone

No matter what the situation is you can always find someone to support you through it. Why not join a slimming class if that’s your goal or maybe just pop around to a friends for a cuppa and a chat if you need moral support?

4.       Don’t give up

This is the easiest thing to say and one of the hardest things to do. Keep a journal of how you’re feeling day by day and if you slip up accept that it happened and move on from it.

5.       Don’t be too hard on yourself

One of the greatest and worst things about life is that it’s unpredictable and things can change without a moment’s notice. Sometimes you won’t reach your goal but you can still keep on going and you might reach it next time so be optimistic and it’ll probably work out better.

This is Topperland’s best advice for new years resolutions (and in general probably) but the rest is up to you.

Why not get in touch with us and let us know what your new year’s resolution is for 2013 or are you not going to make one?

@Topperland

As always we can’t wait to hear from you soon!

Love,

Topperland

Alternative Christmas?

Topperland did a quick whip round the office and we found that the thing that we all dislike most about Christmas is the Turkey… Not because it isn’t tasty on the day because it is! It’s the turkey curry, soup, sandwiches and in one horrible case for breakfast.

The problem with turkey is that it’s just such a big bird and even a crown roast will leave you with leftovers. So Topperland is making a stand this Christmas and we’re going to do something different, check out these brilliant alternatives to the traditional turkey!

This herb rolled pork loin looks absolutely delicious and would make a delicious alternative to turkey and you could still have all the trimmings!

Vegetarians always have a hard time of it at Christmas with so little out there to get them through the festive season. So why not give this spinach, barley and squash pie a go? If you’ve got veggies and meat eaters you can serve up a small meat roast and people can mix and match.

Fish used to be a fairly common Christmas meal but these days it’s fallen out of favour for the now traditional turkey, why not give it a go because can you imagine anything more decadent then this gorgeous Salmon Terrine?

Gammon is one of Mr Topperland’s absolute favourite meals so we’ll definitely be doing a gammon joint this Christmas, why not check out this gorgeous recipe for spiced maple glazed ham.

Finally a roast rib of beef is the choice for meat lovers out there and is so easy to carve and use in sandwiches (but you’ll only have one days’ worth)

Well here are Topperland’s top favourites for the festive season; we think we’ll be doing the veggie pie and the gammon joint this year!

What will you be eating?

As always we can’t wait to hear from you!

Christmas Holiday Activities

If you’re anything like Topperland and you have loads of little monsters high on sugar running through your house at Christmas you’ll know that you’ll need a LOT of planning to keep them occupied whilst you’re doing a million and one things on Christmas Day.

Luckily for you Topperland has donned her Christmas fairy outfit just for this occasion to grant you the wish of peace and harmony during Christmas. Here are a few of our favourite ideas to keep them from getting bored this Christmas (after they’ve broken or gotten bored of their Christmas toys – so approx. 5 mins).

1.       Dinner-time games

Christmas dinner is a huge part of the day and you just don’t realise how long you spend at the table digesting your dinner so why not make this time fun time? Clear the table and bring out a board game or pick one of these fab games!

2.       Dance

We’d suggest doing this BEFORE Christmas Dinner but it’s a great way for the kids to get rid of excess Christmas excitement - put on your favourite Christmas tunes and get grooving!

3.       Christmas Films

It’s a well-known and accepted fact that we all end up watching at least one film on Christmas day so why not make it a Christmas classic? Check out the brilliant family friendly Christmas films here.

4.       Christmas Crafting

Every mother knows that the hand scribbled Christmas card drenched in glitter (with even more on your kid) is the most heart-warming and special thing you can receive at Christmas. Why not set up a Christmas craft table and leave the kids to it? Guaranteed they’ll be happy for hours.

5.       Get them involved

Kids love getting messy… So be prepared. Why not get them involved in making the Christmas dinner? Nothing unsafe but helping with the dessert always goes down well. Check out these fab ideas!

6.       Dress Up!

Kids love getting all dressed up so why not let them have free reign of your wardrobe just for the one day?

These are some of Topperland’s tried and tested ways of keeping the kids quiet at Christmas but do you have any words of wisdom to pass on? Why not get in touch and let us know!

@Topperland

As always we look forward to hearing from you!

Wedding Wednesday - End of 2012 Edition!

Hello lovely people and welcome once again to wedding Wednesday... With a twist! This week we’ve decided that we’ll do something a little bit different this week ( I know you don’t like change but you’ll love this!) because we’re going to do a run-down of all the trends we’ve loved this year!

 Blingy Bouquets

Topperland fell in love with this idea of something that you’ll be able to keep forever as a momento of your special day and even make into something for your little girl when she grows up!
Roll down your sleeves

Thanks to our very own national treasure K Middy (who's working on a little B Middy) everyone has been sporting long lacy sleeves on their wedding day and we love it!

Blushing Brides

“My colours are Blush and Bashful” is the immortal line from Steel Magnolia’s and women have been following in the footsteps this year by breaking the white dress trend and going for pale pinks and blues instead!

You CAN Turn Back Time

The Retro trend has really kicked off this year with natural makeup being replaced with bold red lips and cat flick eyes. We absolutely love this trend!

DIY Diva's

Brides have really been getting their craft on this year with so many handmade items being created and really putting a stamp of personality into the wedding.

I think these have been Topperland’s favourite wedding trends this year but we want to hear all about yours so why not get in touch and let us know what your faves have been?

One of the best trends this year however has been out Topperland cake Toppers which have brought happiness to so many of our customers and we can’t wait to do more next year!

We’ve been inundated with orders over the last two days but you’ve still got 5 more days to take advantage of our 15% Christmas discount so get in touch!

@Topperland

As always we can’t wait to hear from you!

Lacy Lovelies

Lace has been a huge trend for Autumn/Winter this year and it’s not just in fashion, the lace trend has gotten into everything including one of Topperland’s favourite things… Cake!
So here’s Topperland’s run down of our favourite lacy lovelies!

We love this gorgeous vintage birdcage with just a hint of lace and pretty cupcakes, so dainty and sweet.

For all over lace you can’t go wrong with this beautiful creation.

Ruffles rarely look good on clothes but on this cake they're stunning!

These adorable mini cakes have the girls at Topperland towers salivating!

Yellow is our favourite colour – so pretty! We adore all the detail that went into making this!

What sort of cake would you be going for? Do you like the lacy look? Why not get in touch and let us know!

@Topperland

As always we look forward to hearing from you soon.
