Yesterday Topperland posted this photo and it caused quite
the reaction:
What Topperland can see in this picture is lots of beautiful
women but sadly some of them seem to be starving themselves for beauty. This
frankly frightening trend appears to be a global phenomenon.
Luckily for us REAL women are fighting back!
This year the curvy women have been fighting back, it all
started in January when the lovely Lucy Moore
won the “Find a Face” competition run by Anne Summers a popular underwear
brand. Lucy is a size 16 which in the UK is the national average but in the
Anne Summers competition she was labelled a plus size, women were thrilled with
this development and suddenly the fashion world was thrown into disarray with
the public demanding REAL size models. One could argue that this was the breakthrough that has presented such a trend in plus size models on the runways at fashion week.
The fashion world wasn’t the
only industry hit by this demand for curvier women as celeb land was hit full
force by the awesome curve power of Christina Hendricks of Mad Men fame (also
voted the sexiest woman on the planet) and not to mention the curvaceous Kardashian’s
and the lovely Adele.
But what really hit home
recently was this amazing and incredibly brave young woman who presented
herself in a stark self-portrait in just her underwear with no airbrushing at
all. Topperland thinks that she’s beautiful smiling away completely not caring
about her size. She’s healthy and happy and normal so really what’s the
problem?
There are critics of the
latest trend towards real size women is allowing for obesity problems to grow
with people justifying their size by using celebrity and model influences.
Topperland doesn’t think this is the case, what’s happening is that these
brilliant women are giving real women something to work towards.
That’s a sexy, healthy and
attractive figure.
Topperland is left wondering with all these gorgeous and successful women out there why the media insists on showing us waif like creatures who in all honestly look like they could do with a decent meal and a few years under there belt before they should even be allowed to be in the fashion industry.
